Portuguese tourist killed during a road accident near Dalbandin in Chagai district of Balochistan

A Portuguese tourist killed in a tragic accident near Dalbandin in Chagai district of Balochistan. Official sources confirmed that a Portuguese tourist named Muno Miguel Vilao Castanheira lost his life in a road accident after being hit by an Iranian-made Zamyad vehicle on the RCD Highway (N-40) connecting Balochistan's provincial capital Quetta with Taftan, a town near the Iranian border in Chagai district.


According to reports, the deceased tourist, born on January 26, 1995, held passport number CD233459 and was on a tourist visit visa. During his journey from Taftan to Quetta via Dalbandin, he was accompanied by two German nationals, Tony Pankraz Linder and Nikolaus Lang, who were also traveling on bikes and under the protection of Levies Force. The driver and cleaner of the Zamyad were also injured in the accident.


Following the accident, the authorities swiftly shifted Muno Miguel Vilao Castanheira's lifeless body to Prince Fahad Hospital in Dalbandin. However, despite the medical efforts, the doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead. However, the injured driver and cleaner were given medical treatment and later they were formally arrested by the Levies Force for interrogation.


The news of this unfortunate event has deeply saddened the travel community, as foreign nationals were on their way to Islamabad/Lahore via Quetta by road. Official sources have confirmed the entry of the tourists into Pakistan through the PIB FIA Gate in Taftan on August 1 and 2, 2023.


The authorities are investigating the accident.
