137 Illegal Pakistani Migrants Deported from Iran via Taftan Border

Chagai: As many as 137 illegal Pakistani migrants were deported from Iran through the Taftan border in Chagai district on Sunday. The operation took place under the supervision of border authorities and security forces.

According to official sources, these individuals had entered Iran illegally in search of better economic prospects but were apprehended by Iranian authorities. Following due process, they were deemed ineligible to remain in Iran and subsequently repatriated to their home country.

The Rahdari Gate, located at BP 72, played a crucial role in facilitating the deportation process. It served as the official entry point for the deportees as they made their way back to Pakistan. The gate was opened from 161505 hours on July 16th, 2023, until 161700 hours on the same day.

A breakdown of the deportees by province reveals that Punjab received the highest number of individuals, with 80 migrants returning to their home province. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) received 19 deportees, followed by Balochistan with 16, Sindh with 18, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with 4 individuals.

Federal Investigating Agency (FIA) will further proceed with interrogation and prosecution against illegal migrants which were earlier handed over to the FIA by Levies Forec.

This deportation highlights the ongoing challenges posed by irregular migration and the need for collaborative efforts between nations to effectively manage such situations.
